First things first, about knowing me, and as to who I am, you must first learn my name: Yannick Chang Jay Rock. Yes, it is quite an unusual name; not to mention that Jay Rock isn’t even my last name or my middle name, enough said.
Currently, I am 18 years of age. Hailing from Southeast Asia, Malaysia, I was born and raised by two loving parents in a family of 5. A list of my interests and hobbies includes basketball, playing the guitar, composing songs, cooking, photography, making videos, as well as other things. I am a communications freshman student with an emphasis on Film Studies, enrolled in Lamar University.
For as long as I can remember, I have always felt deeply into the emotions of things around me, so I chose a major path, one that still allows me to convey and express emotion, as well as still tell a story. More recently, I have found myself taking a media writing course. I aim to be a better, more proficient writer for the general public, articulating in suitable ways known to the standard of media.
My life goal isn’t even a career but to have a love-filled life spent enriched by my loved ones, which is aided by my career, of course. I dream of someday releasing and publishing my own music, becoming my own individual artist whilst being a filmmaker/ cinematographer as my main profession.
Aside from professional aspirations, I hold all the personal growth and continuous development of myself to my relationship with my savior, Jesus. Though I am imperfect, I strive each day to be better and more loving just as He is. Not to forget my family and friends that gave me experiences and opportunities, but that of which God shows me daily—the ability to choose and do what is good for others.
Additionally, I find my greatest joy in life is choosing to be joyful; especially, when my current life is on the contrary. Family and my relationships give me joy as well, and the excitement I feel when I play music on my instrument, too, brings me great happiness. Moreover, I hope for myself to be a gift of joy and delight to those around me. That is who I am.
